Bohdau Hilash presented an excellent class on playing the contrabass clarinet. He began by giving brief discussions on a few types of contrabass clarinets and followed it with a step-by-step process of starting someone on contrabass clarinet. Hilash asked a few volunteers of varying levels to play the instrument and walked each one through different aspects of playing the instrument. Throughout, Hilash shared helpful tips for damage prevention, ease of playing the instrument, and maintenance.
The informative class was filled with superior knowledge of the instrument and addressed issues that are geared toward both performers and educators alike.
